On the pardoning of the 1/6 criminals

I'm not sure why anyone in the media is surprised that Trump did what he said he was going to do and pardon everyone sentenced for their part in the January 6th, 2021 insurrection. He said he would do this. Oh sure he mentioned once in awhile that they would "look at every case" and other such nonsense. But he spent a lot more time saying he'd pardon all of the "hostages" and here we are.

What also isn't surprising is the lukewarm response by almost everyone in the Republican party. From an article in the New York Times:

Senator John Thune:

"We’re looking at the future, not the past,” Senator John Thune, Republican of South Dakota and the majority leader, said, calling the pardons “the president’s decision."

Senator Kevin Cramer:

It’s not great,” Mr. Cramer said. “But also for the greater good, he did it to move forward and I’m ready to move forward."

How convenient. Mr. Cramer is "ready to move forward" and Mr. Thune is looking at the future and not the past. How about the police officers themselves or their families? The only bit of justice they received was just yanked away by a President looking to rewrite history despite many of these senators being present in Congress that day. Never mind the video we all saw.

To up the ante in the disgusting behavior department Rep. Lauren Bobert was hanging around outside the jail in Washington D.C. today where some of these criminals were jailed, waiting for them to be released to provide a guided tour of the Capitol.

For his part, ever one to deflect, we have this from Trump:

The first question he was asked was about his pardons of people who assaulted police officers at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump responded by asking about Biden’s pre-emptive pardons of his family members.

It doesn't make a difference what Biden did or didn't do. Last time I checked none of his family were convicted criminals involved in assaulting the US Capitol and the police officers inside it.

This is the first bit of overreach by the Republicans and it's doozy. Usually they spend more time before doing something that ends up losing them the next election.

There is a lot of writing at the moment about Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy wanting more skilled H-1B workers in America to make up for some lack of American talent. This is nonsense for two reasons: 1. They don’t want to pay American workers American salaries. H-1B is
