This is the pricing for Modal Electronics’ current lineup at Sweetwater.

One thing to note is that Modal Electronics almost went under and were rescued from the scrap heap. That says nothing about the quality of their gear but of their too-low pricing.

The Argon, Cobalt, and Carbon series is all based on the same hardware. It’s all DSP-based synthesis. The cases, etc. are pretty much identical as is the included key bed (which is a high quality Fatar action. My Prophet-5 rev 4 has the same key bed and that thing was almost 4000USD).

So why is a 5-octave Cobalt8 200USD less than the 3-octave Carbon8? Why does the Carbon8 cost 300USD+ over the Cobalt and Argon when they’re the same platform? Something is not right here.

Glad I bought my Cobalt8 back in 2021 :)
